How to find your fit

Two ways to buy a seat cover — and a 60-second method to figure out which one is right for your car and your family.

Start here

Every cover we sell is one of two kinds: a Universal Fit that stretches to suit most cars, or a Custom Fit cut to your exact Year / Make / Model. Not sure which? Read the two cards below, then use the 3-step check.

Universal Fit vs Custom Fit

Universal Fit

Designed with stretch panels and adjustable straps to fit the majority of standard cars, sedans, SUVs and trucks. You don't enter a vehicle — you pick a seat type (front bucket, bench, etc.). Quickest to buy, easiest to swap between cars, and the friendliest price. Trade-off: a slightly looser drape than a tailored cover, and it may not wrap unusual or built-in seat shapes perfectly.

Best for most families

Custom Fit

Cut to your specific Year, Make and Model so the cover follows every contour, headrest and armrest. Cleanest tailored look, openings line up with seat controls and built-in features. Trade-off: it's tied to one vehicle and takes a little longer to make and ship.

The 3-step fit check

  1. Find your Year / Make / Model (YMM). It's on your registration, insurance card, or the driver-door jamb sticker. Example: 2019 / Toyota / RAV4.
  2. Choose Universal or Custom. Use the table above. When in doubt, Universal Fit suits the widest range of vehicles.
  3. Match your seat layout. Count your seats and note whether the rear folds as one piece or splits (see the next section), then pick the matching set.

Still unsure after that? Don't guess — email us your Year / Make / Model and we'll confirm the right fit before you order. Contact us.

Know your seat layout

Most fit confusion comes from the rear seat, not the front. Here are the layouts you'll see on a product page:

Front buckets

Two separate front seats, each with its own headrest. Nearly every car has these. Front sets are sold as a pair.

Rear solid bench

The rear seat folds down as one single piece. Common in older or compact cars. Use a one-piece bench cover.

Rear split bench (40/60 or 60/40)

The rear back folds in two unequal sections so you can carry both a passenger and long cargo. The most common SUV/crossover layout — choose a split-bench set.

Rear 40/20/40

Three sections, often with a fold-down center armrest. Confirm the cover supports the center section before ordering.

Measuring tips

  1. Headrests: note whether they are removable and how many — covers fit around the posts.
  2. Rear split: push the rear seat down and watch how it breaks. One piece = bench; two uneven pieces = 40/60.
  3. Armrest: check for a fold-down center armrest in the rear; it needs its own opening.
  4. Built-in features: note side airbags in the seat bolster, seat-mounted controls, or integrated belts so we can route around them.
  5. Photos help: a couple of phone photos of your front and rear seats let our team confirm fit faster than measurements alone.

FAQ

What's the real difference between Universal and Custom fit?

Universal Fit uses stretch panels and adjustable straps to suit most standard cars and seat types, so it's quick to buy and easy to move between vehicles. Custom Fit is cut to your exact Year, Make and Model for the most tailored look, but it's matched to that one vehicle.

Where do I find my Year, Make and Model?

Check your vehicle registration, your insurance card, or the manufacturer sticker on the driver-side door jamb. You'll need all three — for example, 2019 Toyota RAV4 — to confirm a Custom Fit.

How do I know if my rear seat is a bench or a 40/60 split?

Fold the rear seat down. If the whole back drops as one piece, it's a solid bench. If it breaks into two unequal sections, it's a 40/60 (or 60/40) split bench. Pick the set that matches.

Will a Universal Fit cover work with my side airbags?

Our covers are designed to work with seat-mounted side airbags, but seat shapes vary. If your seats have built-in airbags, seat controls or an unusual shape, a Custom Fit is the safer choice. When in doubt, contact us with your Year / Make / Model before ordering.
