Care & Cleaning — the unglamorous handbook

Coffee spills, dog hair, sippy-cup mysteries, mud after rainy soccer, that one unexplained sticky patch. Here's how to deal with it without ruining the cover.

The 30-second rule

For any wet spill (coffee, juice, milk, soda, pet accident): blot, don't rub. Soap, not bleach. Cold water, not hot.

  1. Blot immediately with a clean cloth. Push down — don't drag.
  2. Rinse with cold water. (Hot sets protein stains like milk and pet urine.)
  3. Soap if needed — 1 drop mild dish soap in 1 cup water.
  4. Rinse again, blot dry, air dry the rest.

By spill type

Coffee / Tea

Blot, cold water, mild dish soap. Stubborn rings: 1:3 white vinegar:water. ✗ No bleach on faux leather — permanent discolor.

Milk / Yogurt / Drool

Protein stains — cold water only (hot sets them). Mild soap + blot, rinse, air dry. Lingering smell: baking soda after dry, vacuum 1h later.

Juice / Soda

Sugar + dye. Cold rinse first, then mild soap. Grape/cherry dye: diluted dish soap, then plain water.

Mud

Let it dry first. Wet mud spreads; dry mud brushes off. Soft brush, then vacuum, then damp cloth + mild soap.

Pet urine

Blot immediately (don't rub). Enzyme cleaner, sit 5 min, blot. Rinse cold, air dry. ✗ No ammonia — pets re-mark.

Vomit (kid or pet)

Gloves on. Scoop solids with a card, blot the rest. Enzyme cleaner + cold water + mild soap. Air dry, baking soda for odor.

Blood

Cold water + 3% hydrogen peroxide — dab, let fizz, blot. ✗ Hot water sets blood — never.

Sticky residue

Ice cube 60s to solidify, scrape with card edge, wipe with dish soap + cold water.

Removable cover deep-clean

If your LINGVIDO cover is machine-washable (look for the badge on the PDP):

  1. Unzip / unsnap and remove the cover; check the inner label.
  2. Wash: cold water, gentle cycle, mild detergent — no bleach, no softener. Remove metal hooks or use a mesh bag.
  3. Dry: air dry only — never tumble. Hang flat, 6–12 hours.
  4. Reinstall: spritz with water, install slightly damp, smooth hand-flat.

What NOT to use on Napa or faux leather

✗ Bleach

✗ Ammonia

✗ Acetone / nail polish remover

✗ Lemon-based cleaners

✗ Magic Eraser / abrasive sponges

✗ Hot water (above 100°F)

✗ Tumble dryer

✗ Iron / steamer

✗ Vinyl conditioner (leaves residue)

Routine maintenance

Weekly

Quick vacuum (crevices around side bolsters), wipe with damp microfiber.

Monthly

Deeper clean with mild soap. Inspect seams near airbag tear seam. Re-tighten anchor straps.

Quarterly

Removable: machine wash cold/gentle. Permanent: leather-substitute conditioner. Dry silicone on sticky zips.

Annually

Photo-document wear for warranty. Reassess rear-seat fit (bottom cushion compresses over time).

When to replace

A LINGVIDO cover should last 5+ years with reasonable care. Retire it when you see: side bolster seam tears (near airbag tear seam — safety concern), fade >50% lighter, permanent staining, or stretched anchor straps. Any structural damage in the first year is covered by your 1-Year Fit Guaranteecontact us for replacement.

FAQ

Can I use leather conditioner on my Napa cover?

No. Real leather conditioner penetrates hide pores — faux leather has none, so it sits sticky on the surface. Use a Napa-specific cleaner or mild soap + water.

Will my cover shrink in the wash?

Not on cold gentle. Hot water + tumble dry will shrink it 5–15%. That's why we say air dry only.

My pet vomited an hour ago and I just noticed. Is it ruined?

Probably not. Scoop solids, enzyme cleaner, cold water + soap, air dry. Napa fabric is forgiving.

Can I steam-clean it?

Don't. Steam at 100°C+ can warp the Napa surface. Use a damp microfiber cloth and mild soap.

It smells musty after machine wash. What went wrong?

Usually it didn't dry fully before reinstalling. Re-air-dry 12+ hours in a ventilated space; baking soda, vacuum after an hour.
